Capstone Project Reflection

I finished my senior presentation yesterday! It went really well! I had a crowd of junior parents that became my first audience and my first round of my presentation went very well. Until my judge came he became really interested in my project because he wondered why I was the only one in the whole class who had celery sticks and carrots as my snacks instead of candy and other sweet stuff at my booth (My project was based on children eating unhealthy, so I could not make myself look like a hypocrite in front of a judge.) Also, many people loved my idea and project. They were very impressed by it because the project fully targeted young children and low income families who cannot afford to purchase healthy foods. Hopefully, I made a good grade on my capstone presentation.

Discuss look and feel issues:

a) My presentation will have a dual mix of humor and serious.
b) Since the project issue is directed towards children, the colors and fonts will be bright and youthful.
c) The video and print material is persuasive by displaying bright and youthful colors that will capture the attention of the young audience.
d) How do you make your point of view understood? I will discuss the consequences if the children continues to eat the wrong kind of foods on a daily basis.
e) I am intending to create:
i. a bill stating that all healthy foods and snacks should be reduced and all unhealthy foods' taxes should be increased, making it difficult for children to afford unhealthy snacks.
ii. a presentation a low cholesterol diet with pictures of vegetables and fruit

Capstone PSA. - Samiya Hossain

This PSA is about a child only purchasing unhealthy foods. This displays that kids nowadays are only consuming on junk foods because they are affordable and convenient to eat. Hence, the child is only putting junk foods and other unnecessary items  into the shopping cart.

Video was shot at Walmart and had my little cousin to help me in the video. Edited the PSA through Windows Movie  Maker.

My Presentation Ideas

Visual Aids:
For display, I will have my poster, website, and articles that are relevant to my research laid out on my booth. Other props and visuals that I will provide are tables comparing conventional and organic foods. I will also show a demo of how organic and conventional foods are different by each other. Throughout my presentation, I might be using a PowerPoint presentation through Microsoft Office. However, I might be more comfortable by having a physical PowerPoint to present to the judges. In order to help the judges retain the information, I will show show flip charts to display my information in charts and graphs.

Audio Aids:
I will announce a PSA about children eating unhealthy snacks and children eating processed products. Before I introduce my presentation, I will tell a story that is related to the issue. My idea of telling a story that will introduce my presentation came from Kavita Ramdas's presentation about empowered women. When I state the issues, I will use my level of volume in my voice to emphasize the importance of the consequences when children continues to live with an unhealthy diet. I got my ideas for tone of voice from Clay Shirky's presentation.
